9/10

This is a 5 star book but minus one star for very coarse language, making it tough for me to recommend to young adults (who I think would be most open and this could benefit most from the message). I understand the language is put in there for authenticity, but I feel like it could have been toned down quite a bit without losing the effectiveness.

This was a very good book exploring dark parts of our society that many are uncomfortable to go to. It brings modern day racism into the light. I have no personal experience in this realm, but I don't doubt it exists.

Reading this can help people understand biases that help, hinder, or otherwise influence their lives whether overly or silently.

7/10

Just read it for a second time. It was better, but I still stand by my original review.

I like the idea of digital minimalism as it's presented in this book and I think there is a lot that can be accomplished through reading and practicing the principles, but the book as a whole seemed to be mostly fluff. It's like the author wrote the book and out was 70 pages, and the publisher said "you need quadruple the length".

As a result there was a lot that didn't directly pertain to digital minimalism, but was still sound life advice.

I'd like to find the minimalist version of the book that stays on point.

Fun and exciting. Good not great, but I'm a non fiction guy

I already had a basic understanding of what bitcoin is, but this book showed me there is a lot more than the coins themselves that can be leveraged into other application.

I was a total bitcoin doubter before, I'm much more open to it now, although it still has major hurdles to overcome, some of which aren't addressed here.

Interesting ideas, but the whole book feels like a sales pitch. I wonder how well these strategies have aged since 2008

Mildly interesting. This book failed to catch me, although there were some very good parts

This book looks at our environment and our impact on the planet in a different way. It didn't really get into melting ice sheets and doing Coral reefs, but it is mostly about how "going green" can be a good financial decision and improve quality of life.

It isn't what I would call a quick read, but still very good

Update: I got the audio book and still couldn't handle it. I made it like 75% through, but I couldn't Force myself to pay attention. Sorry, this just isn't the book for me.

I only made it to page 161 then gave up. I suppose I'll finish it one day on audio book where I can mostly tune out.

I was very excited to read this after having it recommended by multiple friends, but I just can't get on board. The author uses so many words to say so little. If these really are simple (as all truth should be) rules for life, you shouldn't have to bloviate for 15 pages off topic just to prove a small point related in some small way to the rule your trying to teach (see what I did there, I can also go on forever about nothing).

Maybe I just don't get it, maybe I'm not smart enough to get it. But honestly, nothing in this book as far as I read was ground breaking, new or novel. It really just seemed like writing for the purpose of filling empty pages (is that bringing chaos into order?).

But then again, who am I to criticize? I've never written a book and if I did I'm sure nobody other than family or friends would care to read it, let alone buy it.

I was expecting this to be a ra rá rá for can do it kind of book, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Most of the explores the brain functions with habits with several very interesting case studies. It's a nice mix of neurology, actions, and marketing.

Only in the appendix is the formula for actually changing habits laid out (although there is nothing in the appendix you won't find in the rest of the book).

Overall I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and I was expecting a letdown

I really liked the ideas in this book. I feel like I can't rate it any higher than this until I've put the investing strategies into practice. This could be a 5 star book, but I just don't know yet.

I really like the idea that with the information out there we can now manage our own money with great rates of return
