By the time I got to this book, I was entirely bored. Book 2 and 3 follow the same themes as book 1 and not only that but they're all incredibly similar. Guy gets obsessed with girl, girl is a Jesus freak who loves guy but loves Jesus as well, things get fucked up by same rival gang and Jesus freak girl ends up with fucked up, possessive guy.

B O R I N G !

I won't be continuing with this series, sadly.

There's no doubt that this book is way over the top with the themes bit it's enjoyable for what it is, which is a steamy, dark New Adult romance that focuses around the lives of a MC. The characters were flawed but likeable and the writing was pretty decent despite the editing errors that I caught onto. Would I say 'It Ain't Me, Babe' is one of the best NA romances I've read? No. But despite that it's an enjoyable read and hard to put down once started.

First off, I have to say that the cover and illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. The first novellas titled The Queen tells Amberly's story when she was in the Selection process and I honestly thought she was treated like a dog. Prince Clarkson could have told her to kill herself and she would have. She was completely stupid and actually more naïve than America and Eadlyn (I know right? How the hell does that happen?)

I read The Prince and The Guard a few weeks back and really loved Maxon's story. In fact I wanted more of it because Maxon is a guy for everyone. He's strong, sweet, kind, loyal and handsome. Anything with more Maxon is a good thing. The Guard, however, was just not good. It rehashed Aspen's and America's story and I didn't appreciate that. I wanted Aspen and Lucy's story.

The last proper novella followed Marlee, The Favourite. And I loved it so much. Seeing Marlee's present (just before the caning took place) and past (when she first met Carter) story was perfect in every way. And I couldn't have wanted more.

We then have a few scenes from Celeste's POV and a chapter from Lucy, America's maid who later falls in love with Aspen. I loved them both, definitely preferred Celeste's part since I've always loved her. She was a horrible Bitch who was misunderstood.

Overall, this book bind up of Novellas was pretty much perfect.

Wow. This is not what I was expecting.

I loved Harlow when we were first introduced to her, but she's honestly the most annoying character I've ever read. Calls herself a slut on many occasions and than acts like she's been stabbed in the chest when someone else called her a slut.

And don't even get me started on the possessive relationship. It pissed me off. When is Abbi Glines going to write a book where the girl doesn't jet off to another place when there are problems? It's seriously so old now.

I'm really disappointed with this book. I've wanted to read it for so long, since before it was published and now I wish I hadn't even picked it up. The writing is nice, poetic and I love the awkward relationship between Emmy and Oliver, however, I felt zero connection with any characters in the book. They weren't relatable at all, Caro and Drew, Emmy's friends were just...annoying. They were too over the top, too boring, plain.

This was good, but I definitely preferred the story in Blaire's POV. However, it was still very sexy and fun.

This book started off so brilliantly, but after the first 250 pages things started to slowly fall down hill. Why does someone always have to die? It's stupid! I understand that TB can kill you, but it's too predictable for anyone to enjoy the book.

My mind is messed up like a noodle. I loved the beginning of this book, it was cute and had a lot of Wit, but then it all slightly crumbled down into nothing. Mia isn't an interesting character, she's a slight bore and Ansel was a workaholic prick!

One problem I had was the difference in writing. One author kept using 'close, return, open' and the other would use 'closed, returned, opened'. It was a little annoying.

I know the sequel is about Harlow, but it's too late. I don't want to read anything else by these authors.

Oh, and the last 30% of the book was definitely a 50 shades rip off. Get some originality, please.

The book was just okay in the beginning, but about 150 pages in it really started to pick up. I loved the relationship between Silas and Dylan, they were incredibly cute together. Plus it was nice to see the different sides to Silas instead of being an arrogant Jock.

Now I need Mateo Torres.
