One thing I love about this book is the author took the time to consult OB/GYNs, attorneys familiar with law at the time period of the story, and people who were involved in similar situations as the characters to craft the story. I appreciate that Grady Hendrix took the time to make the characters as authentic as possible.
Only reason it took longer than usual for me to read this is because I was reading it at work and left it at my desk instead of taking it home at the end of the night each night. The book itself is incredibly interesting. There are period maps included to you can see the areas discussed even if you don't get photos of the locations to see the living conditions of the people since that factors into the story. Not only does the book focus on the case and the legal aspects but also the social and racial aspects.
