Alex Finlay’s books never miss! I go in to each book expecting a large cast, multiple storylines, and a lot of action. If Something Happens to Me met all of my expectations and more! The intrigue of Ryan, Ali’s boyfriend, being a person of interest in her kidnapping/disappearance started the book with a bang. Finlay intertwined the characters and storylines with short cliffhanger chapters in different POVs that kept the reader on edge. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an exciting  fast-paced thriller/mystery!

My favorite Megan Miranda yet! This is my favorite Megan Miranda yet! Daughter of Mine is about family secrets you keep and secrets you keep from your family. Hazel Sharp returns home after her father dies, Mirror Lake’s longtime beloved detective. His absence is the town sharpened by a drought that uncovers long kept secrets, including clues to Hazel’s mother’s disappearance. I enjoyed the short chapters with chapter headings cluing us in to how long the town of Mirror Lake has been without rain. It added to the suffocating feeling of staying in lakeside house, alone, potentially being watched, and unsure of who in town to trust. Miranda builds up the tension and suspicion slowly and by the end it is HIGH and I was stressed. I really enjoyed this small town mystery!

I also love this cover! Her book jacket designs make for some of the most gorgeous thrillers on my shelf.

Imagine your fiancé breaks off the wedding, kicks you out of your new house, and declares he’s in love with his childhood best friend. You’re stranded in a new-to-you town with your dream job and nowhere to live. The childhood best friend moves into your house and you are forced to move in with her cute but rough around the edges ex-boyfriend. *eyebrow wiggle*

🍐 Bite-size review: I have read allllll of Emily Henry’s romances and they always hit the spot when I need a little bit of happy. I loved Daphne and I really loved Miles. 🥹  The banter was so funny, I laughed out loud a few times. I want to visit Waning Bay Library!! This is also SUCH a pretty physical book, but I’m being responsible this time and waiting to buy it in paperback. Even though I REALLY love those lemon wedges on the spine.

Swiped is a light quirky serial killer with a side of romance. I do think there is an audience for this kind of novel, but I’m not sure if funny thrillers are my cup of tea. It didn’t hook me in the beginning as I had hoped and I had a hard time with the main character’s cringey humor at times. I did enjoy the mystery, I did not guess who the killer was!
