R.F Kuang writes with an unflinching brutality that is astounding. She does not shy away from the horrors and brutality of war, but instead a bluntly confronts these dark terrors and our mortality. What will a person do for revenge? We all like to think we’d be heroes but there are no heroes in war, only survivors.
I haven’t read a book that painted such a vivid, grotesque picture of war and battle. Kuang is a master at her craft, she herself seems to have summoned a God to write such a masterpiece that makes you question the foundation of the world.
Please, please google/research the TRIGGER WARNINGS for this book, and series before picking it up. It is not for the faint hearted.

Changing my rating for this after thinking about it for awhile
I was skeptical reading this, as Jurassic Park is my all time favourite movie but I was not disappointed! I loved that the book discusses more of the “science” behind the park and also explains Malcolm’s Chaos Theory in much greater detail, which gave me a greater insight into the tension between the characters in the movie.
10/10 !!

I loved this! I love Sarah, she’s such a badass female MC and really stole the show for me. I loved the focus on the dinosaurs and their parenting, and the mystery this book had. The science was incredibly interesting as well. This book really made me think about evolution and human nature.
The ending however, did feel a little rushed and something about it didn’t feel quite “finished”.

This was a cozy, emotional read to me. I really enjoyed it! I love all of the Riva siblings, and enjoyed the flashbacks to Mick & June. I was a bit surprised about the ending, it felt a little underwhelming to me?
At times the book felt too fast paced, and at others too slow. Overall a very enjoyable read!
