i loved the hollow boys series & i’m forever grateful that monty jay gave us a next gen. while the story continues on with the next gen, getting clips & parts of hollow boys makes me never want to leave ponderosa springs behind. it starts off slow but monty knows exactly how to build the plot & throw you in the deep end. the last 30% had me spiraling!! did i stay up til 5am to finish? did i tell myself one more hour each time the hour passed? i sure as hell did & it was so worth it 😌 after reading & absolutely devouring the hollow boy series last year, wrath of an exile was one of my highly anticipated reads this year & once again, monty jay never fails to deliver! i was lucky last year to receive an arc for the oath we give & i spent this halloween (again) being bless to receive another arc from monty! being back in ponderosa springs was ✨ i had missed it so much. seeing our beloved hollow boys & loner society older & as parents/aunties/uncles was just 🥹 monty always gave us badass fmcs’ to fall in love with but i gotta say so far, phi’s character is probably the most badass! i love her. her heart for protecting those she loved even if it ruined/broke her in the process. her idgaf attitude & putting men in their places - like YES GIRL. i wasn’t so sure at first how i would feel about a sinclair (if you read hollow boys, you’d understand) but jude proved me wrong. i loved jude's strong personality & how he didn't take shit from no one. literally just two misunderstood people trying to get through life. i love me a good enemies to lovers & wrath of an exile gave me exactly that. so much angst & build up, that when it exploded - it became a beautiful tragedy. think modern day romeo & juliet but with spice 😌 while its not required to read hollow boys first or in any order, i felt that knowing the backstories of their parents made wrath of an exile so much more better. understanding rook & his relationship with his daughter - not gonna lie, I bawled my eyes out when it came to these two. anyways, if you havent - do yourself a favor & pick up wrath of an exile along with the hollow boys if you havent & get lost in the world of ponderosa springs where trouble is always brewing.
