At the beginning of the book, I found it very difficult to really get into the book, because you are thrown into the story, followed by a lot of information. After a while, you get used to this and read the book a little faster. Still, I felt the book was slow to read because I was not used to reading books without paragraphs and with very long sentences.
Naomi Novik has created a beautiful story that looks a bit like a dark version of Harry Potter – with the magic and the strange creatures. The story keeps getting more and more exciting and you can’t wait to read the ending. The end of the story seemed very closed until you read the very last sentence which was a huge cliffhanger – this means I have to read the second part.
