My favourite books have been mystery, murder, thrillers. Unfortunately this didn't quite hit the mark for me. I personally don't enjoy story lines that involve
religion
as a main plot point in unravelling the mystery but it was not mentioned too much until the end of the story line as the mystery was unravelling so it was manageable, although made the ending unenjoyable for me. I love plots that wrap up all their lose ends, especially when there is no second book, or no series to follow but again, this plot did not meet the mark and left a mildly traumatic, open ended, closing scene in the mind. I would recommend if you would like to support Aussie authors and books set in Australia, otherwise, potentially give this one a miss.

I found this book quite slow to get into and for the plot to progress to being more fast paced. The ending and wrapping up of the loose ends was really disappointing for a murder mystery plot. The main characters were funny, yet frustrating, at times but all round kept me hooked into the book when the plot progression was pushing me away.

For the first 50 pages, I was absolutely in love with the writing style. It was humourous and laced with profanity. It was a nice book to read to end the day with a few giggles. After page 50(ish) I started to feel like I was reading the same content, slightly reworded every 20 or so pages. There was a full section about emails that I struggled to identify with as well as some pop culture references that will mean little to nothing in 5 years.
I wanted more about how to stay focused, how to actually complete my goals, instead I got "I quit my job and moved to the Caribbean and you can too if you just quit your job and move to the Caribbean". Greeeeat... This book is definitely driven by a "just do it" attitude which personally doesn't help me all too much.

Would I recommend? - No, not if you're going to read it at least. I imagine this could be a funny, light hearted audio book but was so dry and repetitive to read. Read the first 50 and last 50 pages and you've pretty much got the whole story.
