This book was overall: okay. I recently got a kindle and I believe this book is free with prime reading so I gave it a shot. I think my problem with it is I had no connection with the main character and all the conflict seemed 200% avoidable. I didn’t finish it because I just didn’t really feel anything for the characters and it started to become a chore to read.

I read this book for my archaeology of salt class and I enjoyed it so much. It is not every day you get assigned a textbook that is fun to read. I think the way this book is organized is a great way to help people learn about salt and it’s many uses over the centuries. It is not hard to understand at all and it’s written in a way that makes the knowledge stick with you.

This book was... something. I completely why there IS hype for this book but it wasn’t really something FOR ME. When i first read about WHY he could remember her I was like WOW IM FINALLY HOOKED except... it took almost 2 parts in to get me hooked. I just kept reading HOPING to finally love it like everyone else did. ugggghhh i really wanted to love it like everyone else but it was just okay for me.

i was really hooked during this entire book. i am not a fan of main characters being gaslit or the main woman character being belittled by men. the story was pretty good and did it good job of keeping me interested. i didnt like the final act where it got kinda sexual assulty and child predatory but the group of women banding together to kill him and chop him up really made up for it. would love to read more by grady hendrix!

OH MY GOOOOOOOD i am normally not a fan of books that have more than one POV but the effortless switch between viv and carly had me HOOKED. i think the ended was a little left fieldish (i was hoping viv WAS dead not in a morbid way but bc it seemed right) and that whole callum plot??? that was not needed lol but i’m also glad nick wasn’t gonna be used as a plot twist bc i liked him all in all i really enjoyed this book and want to read more by simone st. james!!
