This was my first reading experience with Bret Easton Ellis and I'm intrigued to read more.

I enjoyed the writing so much and the way that fiction and facts from the author's life were mixed throughout this story. I ripped through this book in less than 3 days because I just had to know what was going to happen. There is so much to immerse you in this story as BEE provides you with an abundance of details in each scene from what the characters are wearing to what songs they listen to every day: I believe that's where BEE's strength lies. It almost felt like a slice-of-life story at times with how closely we followed the characters.

I was genuinely frightened/creeped out a few times while reading this. Mostly there is a growing tension that can't be ignored throughout the story that increases as the story progresses. There are a few grotesque scenes that you should check trigger warnings for. All in all, I only bumped this down a star because of the pacing/length. There was a portion near the 80% mark that I started to care less about the story because of how long we had gone and how long we still had to go.
