Reread: May 2022
Continued my reread on audio. This has never been my favorite Percy Jackson book. It’s fine, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the others. Excited to get to the Titan’s Curse, because that’s when it gets good good

Reread: May 2022.
With the anticipation of the show in development, I wanted to reread one of my old favorites. I decided to reread on audio, and I'm glad I did. It made for a fun listen during my drive to and from work.

The audiobook narrator isn't my favorite that I've encountered, but I still enjoyed his narration enough to want to continue the series on audio. I also realized how much of this first book I have ingrained in my brain from reading it so many times when I was a kid. I pretty much have the first couple chapters memorized.

Now I just have to wait almost a month for my hold on book 2 to come in...

Whew! What an ending!
While I read The Final Empire entirely on audio, I read The Well of Ascension entirely as a physical copy (partly because I ran out of storage on my phone to download the audiobook

4.5/5 stars
I marked this book as 'to-read' in 2018, and it's only taken me 5 years to actually pick it up. I know I'm terribly late to the Brandon Sanderson party, but I can see why it's a party.

I feel like I don't need to write an extensive review of why I liked it so much, or how great this book is, because everyone and their mom has written those reviews, and I pretty much agree with all of it.

I do wish I had picked this up back around 2018, when I was newer to the fantasy genre, and I think this book would've really blown my mind then. It's a great book, but if I had read it a couple years ago I would've been obsessed.

I read this entirely on audio (Micheal Kramer is just the best) and I'm looking forward to starting book 2!

Horror. gothic. Dark fairy tale retelling of an already dark fairytale.
Definitely know what you’re getting into when you start reading this.

I really like Ava Reid’s writing style, and I can appreciate what she did with this story. I know it’s based off some of her own experiences, and based off other survivors’ too. This novel starts off seemingly as a gothic fairytale but slowly descends into something dark and twisted as more horrors of the story are revealed.

This book is definitely a change of pace, and kept true to what I’ve experienced with Reid’s previous work, The Wolf and the Woodsman. I plan on continuing to read what she writes, I’m looking forward to her next book, A Study in Drowning.

Please check the content/trigger warnings before starting this book. And understand that it’s supposed to make you uncomfortable.
