Night Moves by Jessica Hopper

3.5 really. I was expecting more or different. I wanted more music references, but what it lacked in that it made up for in nostalgia. I would have liked to hang with Jessica in the early aughts.
Best lines: “I was not nearly as disconcerted by the glorious fuck-me flair of the outfits on the piano benches as I was by the nineteen-year-old boy next to me who had a heart and banner tattoo with the word ‘MORRISSEY’ in it. Loving the Smiths is one thing, but loving Morrissey is another thing entirely.”

Loved it. Made me think about high school and what I did and didn’t have to think about. Privilege is a hell of a thing. Lots of fun to read and very touching.

It was cute. Some parts felt rushed, but I liked seeing a new perspective. I like that Zuri was kind of a jerk, but with her heart in the right place.

Some parts were pretty predictable, but the end was refreshing. Nice to hear a male perspective where he learns to start overcoming his limitations and handling his feelings. Clever and heartwarming.
