Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
4.0
⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 4 Stars
Red Queen is the blueprint for so many of the romantasies we see today—complete with brooding brothers, political intrigue, and shocking betrayals. I only wish I had started this series earlier, back when I was 14 or 15 and squarely within the target audience. If I’d read it then, it would have been an easy five star read! However, reading it now at 23, I feel I’ve outgrown some of the YA storytelling elements. While the execution is intentional and masterfully done by the author, I’ve found myself drawn to similar plots in more mature books like "Powerful" that resonate with me a bit more.
That being said, Red Queen*is undeniably excellent in its own right. The characters possess impressive depth, and the worldbuilding is stunningly detailed, immersing me completely in the story. The plot twists were gut-wrenching and unpredictable, keeping me hooked until the very last page. Victoria Aveyard knows how to deliver those jaw-dropping moments that linger long after you close the book. “Anyone can betray anyone”.

It’s started good but it got worse. The main characters were no enemy’s at all and everything went too quick.

Wow...what a series, what a book. I cried, I laughed, I was afraid, I was happy... all the emotions were felt. Definitely a new favorite I can't wait to re-read now that all the plot twists, which there are plenty of, are known. This book in particular had me on the edge most of the time, I would highly suggest reading it when you like fantasy or romance.
