Frostbite by Richelle Mead

I really can't believe I got sucked into yet another series but after zooming through Vampire Academy, I just needed to know what came next and Mead did not disappoint. This second installment in the series features more action, more drama but it never feels like it's going around in circles. There's a clear overarching story at play along with a nice assortment of smaller, intricate stories within to keep it interesting. A very good read.

And yes, it left me wanting more. Book 3...here I come.

The only thing this book needed were a few more hundred pages on Clay and how he met Elena and how that relationship developed. Otherwise...perfect!

It took a while but I finally got through it. Not sure exactly what it was about this story that worked for me but a few things added to my annoyance. I didn't care for this particular universe withing The Otherworld or the people in it. The story itself was interesting enough but I simply didn't care for Eve all that much. She may kick butt and have a great "take no prisoners" attitude but I liked her better when she was the bitch you admired from afar. Moving on...

Masquerade by Melissa de la Cruz

Though I don't find de la Cruz' series as compelling as some others, I am finding myself drawn further and further into the world she creates. What's most impressive, and continues to amaze me about the series, is the way in which de la Cruz switches between narratives partway through chapters and occasionally, even through a paragraph. It's impressive and adds an interesting turn to the story which could be quite boring from solely one perspective.

Curious to read the rest of the series.
