oh my god seriously have never read a book like this one. it was so uncomfortable to get through but educated me on a lot - i feel like i should reread this book when i'm older so i can fully understand some of the things that happened in this book. there is just so much that happens in this book and so much to think about. the ending was so heartfelt and i think that it's the best ending for this book given literally all the shit she went through. it delves deeper into the idea that being a "victim" has so many more nuances/layers to it.

standard romance. i found myself questioning what the author was aiming for with this book - there was just so much at once. a lot of stuff is dealt with in this book but i do feel it manages the lighthearted yet serious tone well. i really felt for dylan and could relate to some of his struggles, and i think the flawed characters in this book was what made it charming. but marcus seriously made me want to kill something. hated him so much. the last few chapters of the book made me cry ugh they really pulled at my heart strings. this book is a good portrayal of a realistic romance. also love how dylan is a writer AND goes to oxford yasss. overall a solid read, certainly didn’t waste my time, but also not a book that astounded me.

oh my god such a cute fluffy book. sarah j maas could never. the fact that this is in a fairy world and is totally unlike what sarah j maas has written regarding the world of fairies just proves how good this author is at world building. really brought a sense of depth to the idea of fairies and immortality and we got to see the reality of it all. their romance was adorable and rook is SO CUTE. also the author’s writing style is so incredibly beautiful. i would’ve liked to see their process of falling for each other a bit more, since it sortve seemed insta lovey even tho we know that they fell for each other over months together. the author just didn’t show us that, so it was a bit hard to believe and we were kind of thrust into the romance a bit.

beautiful writing style. so lyrical yet to the point. it taught me so much about vietnamese culture and experiences many people face when moving and adapting to a new country. made me reflect on myself a lot more. explores many important topics. a book worth everyone to read.

good but not good enough. they started including irrelevant characters towards the end that didn’t care about at all. i liked evelyn hugo a lot better. i didn’t really care too much about any of the characters except nina. i also spent basically the whole book being pissed at hudson lmao

reread it soo many times
