I was so excited to get early access to Paris’ newest book. Especially after loving Behind Closed Doors and having bought and added The Dilemma and The Breakdown to my tbr shelf.

I enjoyed the short chapters and the dual timelines of past and present. It was also great to read a solo POV for a change! I was intrigued by the locked room mystery and was enjoying the first part of the story, but then it took a turn and fell completely flat.

The Witch in the Well had so much potential and could’ve been a great book for spooky season. What drew me to it is the fact that this is a Norwegian thriller. Though this book is about witches, a broken friendship and a small town’s history, it fell flat especially on the “witchy” factor.

Told in 3 POVs which are either in the format of a letter, a journal entry or a document’s transcript. It was hard to keep the 3 characters apart and took some time to get the hang of things.

It focuses heavily on the past and the small town’s history but oddly includes very modern technology for the present parts. One of the MC’s were heavily into the “influencer” life and loved using hashtags for everything she posted online.

In the end I have to say that I am still confused about what I read and am left with so many questions. I didn’t think about DNFing this at all because I really wanted to understand the story and be engrossed in it. This was a difficult book in the sense of it being hard to comprehend.

Ever read a book that had a book within a book?! Well, Run Time is a whole other level above that! Let me introduce you to

I was so pumped to get my hands on an eARC of A Familiar Stranger! Thank you to NetGalley for providing the copy in exchange for an honest review.

A Familiar Stranger was a super quick and bingeable read. A typical domestic thriller with a twist

This book is my first one by this author and I was excited to dive into this horror book!

Vera is asked to return to her old childhood home where her mother is dying. The home she hasn’t been to in years, where she had last seen her father before he was arrested for the things he had done in their basement.
Just a few days back and Vera starts to experience unusual things around her home - especially in her sleep.. as if the house comes to life at night.

This book is told in dual timelines of past and present. There were several gripping parts, but I mostly found this book to be very slow paced and too detailed. I wished the buildup would have happened a lot faster without the extra information. It does get action packed towards the end, but the rest of the book fell a bit flat for me.

Thank you to @netgalley and @poisonedpenpress for this eARC of Moehling’s debut novel in exchange for my honest review. {Published 6/14!}

This isn’t a typical whodunnit read! We actually know who did it and what happened years ago. And with the current events of two teenagers disappearing and acting sheriff Ben Packard trying to solve the case while dealing with his own personal issues, we wait and read on until the two paths of Ben and the perpetrator cross. What makes it more interesting is the dual POV of both the acting sheriff and the offender. You can expect a locked room mystery as well as a police investigation.

My favorite character is definitely Gary and his sassy, unique self who also runs a dog rescue.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kiersten. I was SO excited when I got the email saying my request to read this book was approved!
