I’ve put off reading this for so long because I thought I’d be disappointed and it’d be overhyped, I was wronggggg!!!! Love love love it!

This is TAPPED but I enjoyed this more than the first one even though I thought some of the scenes were DIABOLICAL and was staring at the screen in disbelief whilst reading half of it 😅

The emotions I went through whilst reading this.. nothing will ever come close. Suzanne Collins FED USSSSS with this one, the Easter eggs are immaculate, but she also ripped our hearts out CONTINUOUSLY and I don’t think I’ve cried this much whilst reading a book in a good while🥲
Haymitch, I love you dearly. 💝

Starts off a bit slow (I don’t think I’m into action / mercenary bits) but as soon as Viv settles down in Murk and starts working in the bookshop it really started to feel cosy and became much more enjoyable! The epilogue made me want to cry and I can’t wait for the next book about my fave little rattkin 🥹

I did enjoy this book but I have sooooo many issues with Johnny and Shannon’s story. If I didn’t know this book was written by a woman, I would’ve assumed it was written by a man. The way Shannon is described is honestly so bizarre, why are we constantly being reminded of how tiny she is? She even mentions her tiny breasts? Literally no one talks about themselves like that. Stop being weird. Johnny being 18 and Shannon being 16 is also a huge huge no for me, and the fact that there are explicit sex scenes - WHEN THE MAIN CHARACTER IS SIXTEEN - is actually VERY weird. She is a child. You’re describing a child having sex. Okay! The way Shannon is described is overall very childlike, and she isn’t very mature at all (despite what you all say because newsflash! being abused and having trauma doesn’t automatically make you mature and THATS OKAY) whereas Johnny literally acts like an adult (maybe because he is 😘) - it just feels … ugh!
But other than that, I did enjoy every other aspect of the book and I’ll probably read the others as they’re based on characters that are actually slightly interesting, and I wishhhh there was a book purely about the Lynch boys as I love them with all of my heart🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
