It’s been a while since I read the original trilogy, but boy did this pick me right up and threw me back in. It doesn’t happen that often that I feel like I HAVE TO read deep into the night but with this I couldn’t stop.
Is it a perfect book? Probably not. Am I a little obsessed apparently? Absolutely.
Very sad and sometimes hard to read but also so hopeful and taking Jean towards a brighter future. I adore the characters that we get to meet more fully in this novel.

It took me a bit to get into, and I wasn’t convinced for almost half of it, but the rest of it flew by! Looking forward to reading the next one!

I always enjoy Casey McQuiston's writing - they just write very good characters and interactions between them that are so compelling to read. At first I wasn't sure about this one, and Chloe's actions were very often frustrating, but it just ended up really catching my attention. And, god, McQuiston manages to write jalousy-inducing friendgroups perfectly - the friendgroups and the characters in them are a joy to read about!

Throughout most of the novel i kinda didn't want Chloe and Shara to get together - I thought most of the decisions Chloe made in more than half were frustrating and Shara wasn't really introduced until after halfways through. They did NOT seem good for each other, so I was curious if I would change my mind, and you know what? I didnt mind! I did end up really enjoying the relationship between this really intense and somewhat too much, queer girls.

This is a beautiful book that made my heart ache. As the blurb says it's about loneliness and connection in strange and unforeseen circumstances. I didn’t really have any expectations going into it, but didnt expect to fall for it as much as I did. I love the portrayal of this life so far away from what I know and connections across societal and especially language barriers.

It was cute!
At first Wren really annoyed me, and maybe it's just because im over the whole 'bitter, sarcastic teenager, who must hate the things their class mates enjoy' - but since I'm not really the target audience anymore I hestiate to judge too soon, but he was quite annoying and the first few chapters I didn't know if I should keep reading. It got better as it went along and as soon as he got to know Leo more, he mellowed out. The rest of the novel was simple and sweet with no real twists or that much tension, but sometimes that is just what you need!
