If you love the characters of Slough House, and want to know more of the back story - this is superb.
I loved discovering ‘Miles Brinsley’s’ early life as a spook in Berlin, and as each element is revealed it’s a bitter sweet story. Despite lots of threads and timelines running at once, and you feeling at times you’re going lose complete track of the plot, it is all pulled together expertly at the end.
Thoroughly recommended for fans of the books, or just those who’ve watched the TV show and want to get a little more immersed in the Slow Horses world.

An atmospheric, gothic horror that conjures the feeling of a secluded Scottish island, and century old folklores that get handed down through the generations. The book sadly doesn’t quite tie up all the loose threads, making some pretty huge leaps towards the end to try and reach a conclusion - but nonetheless the writing is delightfully dark and tense, which hooked me in to finding out what happened to the missing Stay family, and whether witches really do exist.

A very easy and quick read (perfect for a holiday), that is a funny, gentle antidote to the books I might usually choose.
Not sure if the book’s ending constitutes entrapment, but I was rooting for Ann and hoping she’d get away with all those pilfered yoga mats and gym trainers!

It’s not often I read a book that will form part of a series and want to find out what happens next… but this is definitely one!
The writing is a perfect mix of thriller, character development and the dark humour adds light to the grizzly, graphic violence.
Throughly recommended for anyone wanting to get onboard early with a new Scottish, hard-boiled, police thriller that will have you loving Ally McCoist!

A book of two halves. To begin with I really struggled with it, I have no musical knowledge whatsoever and thought I’d struggle to understand it, so genuinely thought about stopping… but then Josephine is introduced and the book becomes quite a brilliant story about her and uncovering her mystery. I couldn’t put down the second half of the book, and loved it.

A fabulous thriller that I really paced through to find out what happened next. Whilst non of the twists will really take you by complete surprise, you do become very invested in the stories of the trapped passengers and their rescue. A perfect holiday read… just maybe not if you’ve travelled by plane!

I don’t ever go for books of this page count due to my attention span, BUT I’m so glad I did on this occasion. Brilliant from the off and an absolute must for anyone who enjoys music inspired stories, and dare I say the book “Daisy and The Six” really hoped to be.
You know how much you’ve enjoyed a book by the feeling you get reading the last few paragraphs, and this one will definitely be up there in my favourites of the year, if not all time.
The only downside, I really wish I could listen to Utopia Avenue and enjoy their music as much as their story.

Twist, after twist, with a few more twists thrown in for good measure! A really fun read that kept me hooked, culminating in a chaotic, totally unbelievable ending, that felt the perfect way to finish it. A thoroughly enjoyable, larger than life, whodunnit.

Sadly this book just wasn’t for me and found myself skipping large parts. I found the main character, Grace, just too unlikable to bare with her, which was a shame because the potential meant I really wanted to enjoy it. Think there’s every chance it’ll end up as a film though 🤣

A gothic story with a reasonable smattering of horror and grizzly deaths set in a cursed Victorian theatre. Although the story wanes a little towards the end once the most interesting character, Lilith, exits stage left, it was an enjoyable, easy read.
