Great solid read from Elle Kennedy. She always digs deeper than just the surface issues of the main couple, giving both the FMC and MMC depth and a individua  character arc separate from their romance.
Diana and Shane were great in their fake togetherness as they ended up being when they admitted their feelings.

Off the wall OTT MMC and a FMC who is here for ALL his crazy crazy. This was a fun hockey romance with stalker, stabby vibes.

If you love the type of obsession found in Sam Mariano, BJ Alpha, CR Jane and S Massery - This book is for you.

I love dark romance as a sub genre. I am not new to the genre and what they can contain. This did not hit the mark at all. The characters were very surface level - I did not get to know them beyond their current dynamics - there was no emotion to any of the 4 main characters. I read to feel angst, love and emotion is whichever form it takes and this was just words on a page.

A fresh plot with awesome writing.
The characters are very real and relatable, making choices depending on their circumstances, right or wrong. It is an interesting start to a 4 book series. I will be reading them all.

Slow Burn Romantasy at its best.

You are going on this journey of self discovery with Diem. It's is awesome to follow her and discover more about herself, her changing beliefs and alliances. Written very well and paced just right.

I liked this story.
However I keep wanting more from the story.
Many times important things have happened off page, when I believe it should have been revealed on page - it would have upped the tention and tether you more to the characters.

Another instance where a slow reveal would have made the story more interesting would be letting the reader find out about the depth of Sage and Rooks past relationship in alternating chapters from the past to the present - keeping us confused and wanting until the very end.
