This book surprised me. I knew little going into it. I just knew my best friends loved it (hi Fae and Rouge!!), it has a STUNNING cover, there was a plus-sized FMC, a haunted house, and a MMC with a mating tentacle. All I needed to be instantly sold.

What I did not expect is all the soft and warm feels. There is a strong found family element that really caught me. This book was not just about romance, it was about relationships, friendships, and healing from your past. It made it so special to me. I loved zombie Kevin, zombie cat Moonpie, and Carl the hellhound. I wish I got more of them. I would read stories about their daily antics forever.

SEBASTIAN AND DAHLIA. I fucking love them so much, together and a part. I loved their vulnerability and strength, how they grew together. Somehow Lizzie managed to make this a slow-burn where they get together before 50%. Anticipation made the spice so much better.

I am eager to get more of this world, and delighted to find out Ophelia's story is already out and ready for me to consume.

I typically gush more when I am this in love with a book, but I truly do not want to spoil it for you. Check the triggers, check the tropes. If this is for you, PLEASE READ IT!! This book is truly something special.

Demons and Doves by @clioevansauthor

Blurb:

A Vampire. A Shapeshifter. A Demonic Jester.

The Rippers have lost everything because of Florence. Her past is dangerously intertwined with their future, and nothing will tear her from their blood thirsty grips. But the further they drag her into hell, the more they realize that fate is far more evil than any monster could be—and that they aren’t the only creatures after the doves.

Love is a weakness. Trust is a weapon. And if these four are ever to find either, they will have to reopen wounds that are better left untouched.

Can the demons love the very human they are destined to hate? Can Florence ever love them back?

Review:

Holy fucking shit. Clio did it again. Clio made me enjoy things I would have been terrified of previously. She really knows how to make one scaroused (scared + aroused). Also thank you so much Clio for including a summary of the last book.

I am not sure where to begin, but I really loved this book, I think more than the previous. I really enjoyed the fact that 3/4 were already mated and just finding away to be together. I loved the tenderness seen between Ace & Cat.

JACK!! JACK IS BACK & BETTER THAN EVER. I was so happy to see her back and with her mates again, and pursing florence. She was so deliciously evil. Jack was my type to a T.

I loved Ace's bizarre and traumatized lil butt much more than I thought I would. He is a not a good creature by any means, but you cannot help but root for him. Especially when this scary ass demon WHIMPERS!!

Cat somehow scared me more than Ace. Reading this I learned that I somehow accept eating a lovers flesh more than oviposition. Who knew! But I still loved him. What a cheeky chap!

Florence. I have been intrigued by her since the first book and she did not disappoint. She is really strong and really horny. I could relate and empathize a lot with Florence throughout the book.

I love how villainous the love interests were, and how on top of that, they cared so fucking much about each other and consent. One way to win my heart in my book is having healthy consent discussions. Also after care!! eeee

Quote dump:

There was a part of me that knew I was in a trap. The beautiful woman in front of me was a monster. There were dead bodies in the room, a pile of corpses that she drank from.   But right now, when I looked at her, it was hard not to crave her praise and attention.   “You’re so touch starved,” she chuckled. “You can touch me, little lamb. Wherever you want. Please me.” I blew out a breath.

“If you remember nothing else, remember that there is no coercion here. You’re so touch starved that your very soul begs for my evil. You reek of desperation, dear Florence, your heart bleeding with lust. You think it’s a sin to submit to such wickedness when it is only part of your nature. I will come to you every night and terrorise you until we slit your throat. We’ll trick you, use you— and you will crave more. Because there is freedom in depravity.”

I could taste him, his pleasure, the connection that had drawn us together.   I pulled my fangs free, licking my lips. His blood sat heavy on my tongue, a drug. I looked at Ace, raising a brow. “Home. And I want you both.” Ace nodded, the bells of his hat ringing. He didn’t give Cat a chance to recover, instead picking him up bridal style, cock still out, and carried him quickly towards our car.

“Mine,” Ace groaned. “All mine. Fuck, you feel so good.” He thrust into me again, and I screamed, an orgasm rolling through me. Every nerve ending lit up with pleasure, my eyes squeezed shut as it crested.   Ace whimpered, and I felt his cum gush inside of me, heat spreading through my body.

She never treated my desires like they were too much. She never looked at me with disgust, or even horror. She accepted me as I was, and I accepted her too. In her violent cravings and blood-thirsty love.   She drank from me as she continued to rake her nails over my skin hard enough to draw more blood. I heard Florence’s shocked gasp, and that only made me smile. Such a dainty little lamb caught up in a world of ravenous wolves.

“Fuck,” he sighed. “You feel so fucking good, Florence. I can’t get enough of you. You’re ruining the three of us…” I whimpered as I came down from the high of the orgasm. His thrusts became harder and slower, every movement vibrating from my pussy to my bones.   “What am I supposed to do?” he grunted. “You’re too good for us, princess.” My eyes fluttered as I held onto him.

Morte continued to stare at me and I stared back.   “Are we going to kiss?” I finally asked him. “The tension is becoming unbearable.” Everyone shot me a dirty look, even my own mates. “They’re not lying,” Morte said.
