I'm very torn on this book. I would describe the story as very Alice in Wonderland-ish, only more modern, a male lead and written for adults.

The premise was interesting. I genuinely found the story funny where it was meant to be and I liked all of the side characters a little bit more than the main character, Ben. Overall though, I got a little bored of the story after a bit. It was one extremely weird thing after another all with extremely weird solutions that Ben would just happen to have or be able to figure out. I understand that was more or less the point, but after a while, I realized there was no real sense of urgency, no worry of loss. I stopped really caring about him. I was also not too fond of the way everything ended.

I did really enjoy the narrator for this book. The voices for each character were great and he had good energy through the whole story.

This wasn't a terrible book, and definitely worth a read, but I didn't leave it feeling like I got something from the story.

I actually liked this book more than I expected to. There's a lot going on in this story and I admit I had to really pay attention to keep events and revealed secrets organized. Despite that, the book was fun with a nice dose of magic and fantasy without being too over the top.

My only real issue was the romance at the end of the book. I didn't see any actual build-up to it so it felt like it just came out of nowhere.

I was completely blindsided by this book. I went into this expecting one thing and got a completely different story than I thought it would be.

In a very good way!

I loved what this story turned out to be. It was interesting, unique, and had a really good cast of characters.

I will say, I really do not think I would consider this book to be a romance. It was more of a mild subplot to something much bigger.

I was also a bit disappointed in the ending. I really wish there had been just a bit more to it.

I will admit It took a little bit to actually get into this one. I had no idea what to expect when I went into it. The entire story is told through letters the main character Charlotte is writing to a friend that she never actually plans to send. While this was different and unique, the language and lack of context early on made it difficult to get involved with the story.

I think after about a third of the way through the book however I actually started getting into the story and I grew fond of Charlotte.

I'm glad I stuck with it, but I that it might be a little too unique for some readers.

I feel it is worth noting that I have not read Pride and Prejudice so I cannot comment on it's connections to this story.

This book was an extreme taste of teen high school drama. I had moments where I felt a little silly listening to the angstiness, but then I reminded myself that I'm not the targeted age group. It was very dramatic and emotional and I won't lie that I got a little teary-eyed in places. The ending was not at all what I was expecting and when I realized where it was going I was a little disappointed, but I do think it was the best ending for this story as a whole.
