This book is magnificent in many ways, but one thing I find myself still thinking about nearly a year after reading is that appendix/epilogue. It seriously sends chills down my spine.

A book for winter, when it gets colder and darker and you don't go outside as much. A reminder that loneliness is structural and political, rather than just an individual curse, and that artmaking is one of the primary ways we have to either get ourselves out of loneliness or at the very least try to understand it better.

Such a singular and awesome book. The voice is unforgettable—Maria is unlike almost any main character I've read in a very long time, possibly ever. New York portrayed with warmth and exasperation. If you liked Torrey Peters' Detransition, Baby, or Jade Sharma's Problems, you will love this.

Succeeds as a work of literature but not quite as a work of fanfiction.

Yeah there's a reason why everyone is always talking about this book. Beautiful sparkling prose that pulls you along like the current of a river.
