This series just gets better and better!

In this book Avery has died and been reborn with the magic of a goddess who threw her power into the universe thousands of years ago to avoid a crazy power hungry elf from obtaining her magic.

Poor Avery has lost her memories - she knows the English language but she can’t recall any memories, who she is, who her friends are etc. she can’t even recall what her feelings are called (like the need to urinate or hunger).

Wyatt doesn’t let Averys memory loss deter him from being around her. He is constantly around her wanting to help her through this because she is still his mate even though his mark has gone from her and the bond is broken because she died. He is the ultimate Alpha MC Hero - he works tirelessly to ensure Avery knows who he is and he doesn’t push her into anything she doesn’t want to do which I find admirable.

We see Charlotte from the two previous books take on her first assignment which is to help keep Avery safe. We meet the rest of Squad Three and we are introduced to the typical jealous mean girl in the shape of a siren. She has previously been with Wyatt and therefore she acts impulsively (we find out this is because she needs to go back to the ocean as she has been away too long and she isn’t acting rationally) by drugging her and Nicolas with a sex drug while they are in the small safe house space.

During the time in the safe house we find out what happened between Nicolas and Wyatt and why the dislike each other. I wasn’t expecting that to be the reason at all.

Unfortunately despite all the SF’s efforts Avery is captured by the Elf who wants her new magic and it ends on a hell of a cliffhanger once again.

I am loving the character development (or in this case deterioration of Averys character). The story line is great and the book flows at a steady pace, nothing is done too quickly that I didn’t understand things or too slow that I became bored. I can’t wait for the last book and if it is anything like these last book it will be spectacular.

I loved this book! A unique look on the wolf shifter lore.

Split shifters? I’ve never once read about this so I am very intrigued. It’s great that there are not only wolves but also vampires, Fae etc. and the races are basically on the verge of war with each other and their own kind.

Some people found Demi to be an annoying helpless heroine but the author has obviously written her this way so she can come into her own in the next few books. She has never been able to defend herself because her wolf has been locked away for 20 years and when she can finally be released she will be badass. Author had to make her stand out and be different from the normal barbie types you see in these kind of books so she made her more grungy/punk and although she seems badass she is quite helpless but I think once she learns to control her wolf she will be unstoppable.

I loved Sawyer and feel sorry for him needing to go through this mating year to find a wife. The concept of this is great and I feel like there are a lot of different issues surrounding the main characters I’m hoping they will all come together in the end.

The book isn’t too short or to long but with that cliffhanger I can see why they stopped the book where they did. I hope sawyer pulls through and sees the truth and Meredith gets a punch to her bitchy face.

I bloody love sage and I want to see her story with Walsh please!

A great second book in the series.

Things move forward in this book, despite what a lot of reviews on here seem to think.

The bond between the guys and Rowan increases. She still hasn’t bonded with Holden but she feels he is holding back from her so she doesn’t feel like she can bond to him yet.

We finally meet her mother and the poor thing is completely broken, she sent Rowan away to try and escape her fathers clear madness at wanting to take her powers. We see her powers grow and find out she can control elements and she is a shifter they thought was extinct. I have a feeling her father is actually a member of the quad but that’s just a theory.

I’m glad Vaughn is coming around even if it is slowly. He’s so scared of hurting Rowan and the others he wants to stay away but he can’t. It’s honourable.

The ‘mean girls’ are still causing problems and the cliffhanger is a great one. I’m excited to learn who her father is and who wants to drain her power.

We didn’t really get into much action and Rowan is hurt again and has to rely on the mate bonds to help her. Some people think this makes her weak but the whole book has been around the bond making each of them stronger when they are together and they need each other in tough times.

Excited for the last book now and hopefully there is a lot more action.

Also I really hope Rowan and the guys adopt Crispen because he is adorable and I just want to smother him in cuddles and kisses!

This was a great ending to the series.

The bond all come into their own towards the end, and Rowan realises her powers aren’t meant to be used alone, she needs to use her mates gifts as well to help her defeat Kaleb. I had a feeling Gregor was her father because Of how much of a dick he is to her but I can see now looking back on Kalebs interactions that it was always him.

I am glad they found help with Ivan and eventually Cinner.

There was so much action in this one and this series really needed that.

It was a great story and I didn’t find any loose ends either they were all wrapped up in the epilogue (and the bonus chapter from signing up to the email) and everything came together - only thing is you’re not told which of them fathers which child and that drives me crazy.

I’ll definitely be reading more from this author

I struggled to rate this book if I am honest.

I’d say truthfully it’s about a 2.5 so I have it a 3 on here.

I mean this book was ok, but there is just something about the characters that I just didn’t like. I liked Killian but that was about it. I didn’t mind Sterlyn but she grated on me a bit. I was starting to kind of like Rosemary but I feel she has a hidden agenda. I dislike Griffin, Carter and Luna a hell of a lot.

Because I dislike Griffin so much I know I won’t be able to continue with this series because they see fated mates, if this was Killian I would read on but honestly I don’t find it realistic he will change straight away like that.

The whole mean girl vibe going on with Luna and her dads clear desire to be Alpha is a piss take. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is the one who has motioned for her to be taken he probably knew about the Silver Wolves because of Griffins dad. Honestly nothing really stood out for me. The idea of a lone wolf left from a species they thought had become extinct is intriguing but the author didn’t make me feel like I wanted to know more about the race and why they left the Shadow City.

It was ok but I’ve read much better and so won’t be continuing the series.

Again wishing I could give half stars on Goodreads. 4.5*
*Possible Spoilers*

S.T. abbey is a new author to me, someone I found via recommendation On a reading group. Having never read anything about from the author before I was skeptical but I actually enjoyed this book.

Some parts I found a bit boring, some things haven’t been laid out clearly but a lot has been implied so you understand some of the reasons why Lana/Victoria is doing the things she is doing.

I love that we have seen more than just the murder case surrounding Lana, we see a few different cases Logan is working on which is more realistic than you sometimes see on the tv, obviously the fbi work on more than one case at a time.

I like how the more recent case Logan is working on is now coming into Lana’s story as everything up until the last chapter felt a bit unrelated. We saw Lara doing her thing, we saw Logan doing his thing but never together until he asks her for her opinion on a case which triggers her a bit and we get to understand more of her past.

The surprise turn at the end shocked me, as I thought the cliffhanger would have been the boogeyman. Looks like book 2 will be a mixture of Lana’s revenge, Logan’s case and Hadley being too close to discovering the truth.

The sex scenes were ok but they weren’t very detailed and just felt like they were skipped over in favour of the overall plot but I’m not mad because the story is actually good. I don’t know how I feel about Logan finding out the truth (if he ever does ) or if Lana just completes her list and moves on with her life.

The story feels like it should be morally wrong, but I totally get it. She is taking revenge because of something horrific that happened to her and her family and isn’t doing this for fun or pleasure but as a necessity, and I am here for it. I want Logan to understand but we will see if his moral compass means he will turn her in when/if he finds out or if he allows her to get away with it.

The book is short and easily readable in a day or two max (I took several days off between completing it but read 50% one day and finished it the next). Interested for book 2 but can’t see how this can be a 5 book series because things already feel like they are coming to a close. Hopefully there are more twists and turns in the series and we see more of Lana and Logan working for their relationship despite what she has been doing.

Again 4.5* but can’t give a half star rating.

Book 2 in the mindf*ck series and this was one much more fast paced than the first one. I understand that this one will be much easier because you don’t need the character and world building so we got into the nitty gritty pretty quickly.

A very short ‘book’ however as it’s called sidetracked I had a feeling this wouldn’t focus on the main plot line(s) of the first book, and that’s ok so with it being shorter I am not that bothered as it only added slightly to the first books plot. It felt like when you watch a series and there is an episode in between a part 1 & part 2 episode. It’s not entirely off topic, but clearly a side story. This was needed for them to change their ‘profile’ of the unsub.

We get to know more about Hadley and her past and why she works at the fbi. It feels like the author just took a lot of tropes from Criminal Minds and changed the names and a few character details but when I’m reading I can’t help but picture the criminal minds cast. Maybe that’s just me? I’m not mad at this though.

There is an error in writing, when Laurel is dropped off at Lindy’s house the author writes that ‘Lindy is carried in to the house’ etc when she meant Laurel. A small mistake but should have been caught by the proof reader. Not an issue and not why it didn’t get 5 full stars.

The sex scenes were more detailed but less in this instalment. Considering it’s a much shorter book I understand.

It’s again questioning people’s moral compass. There is a point that I loved where jake tells Lana she is on a mission and isn’t a vigilante who kills pe*do’s and Logan mentions it later. I totally get why Lana deals with this guy and takes him out, however I feel she might be wavering from her revenge and becoming a bit of a vigilante. If she continues in this way, she will be caught. I feel she is devolving, and is a bit out of character for her. She is a bad ass but I think she is being a bit sloppy going off and doing this ‘side kill’. Jake could have easily convinced her not to go on this path so I’m thinking this will be the start of Logan working out what’s going on.

I am hoping the boogeyman gets wrapped up in the next book and we actually see them going to Delaney Grove (we only heard about it in passing) and it will be interesting to see if Logan and his team can put the clues together. I really want to know exactly what happened to Lana and her family, kind of already worked out her brother but it mentioned her father in this one so I need to know what happened. I really don’t want to have to wait for book 5 to get all this information.

A great book but I feel this could have been split into the end of book 1 and the beginning of book 3.

Hopefully book 3 will answer a lot of questions I have but I’ll likely have to wait until book 5. An easy read and well written. I genuinely want to know what is going to happen to the characters

4.5* - I couldn’t give it a 5 because I found some of the plot comical, honestly some of it was what I imagine I’d see in a comedy but more on that later.
Overall rating 4.75* for the whole series.

I was sad to read the end the author has sadly passed away. I will absolutely be reading her other works as I enjoyed finding this author and I am saddened to think there won’t be any more books by her.

So, first off, wow. What a whirlwind this series has been. I’ll admit I don’t think it needed to be 5 books, easily could have been 4. When I was first told the summary ‘serial killer falls for the fbi agent investigating her case’, and I thought that trope was interesting and all kinds of messed up. But this series was so much more, it was about surviving, healing, learning and loving all in one while having the strange relationship that was serial killer and fbi agent falling for each other.

I did forgive Logan, not completely but he sort of proved himself in the end so I guess he is good to stay. I’m glad things worked out for everyone but I’m also kind of annoyed it all worked out but they had to move on again.

Loved the surprise at the end, that was brilliant.

Now I couldn’t give it 5 stars mainly for the ‘endgame’. Lana has said numerous times that she hates guns, yet walks into the endgame like fucking Rambo. That didn’t sit right with me. I just felt this was totally out of character for her to do.

Also towards the end the names of all the people got a bit confusing, I felt some of them weren’t mentioned enough prior to this to get them all the first time round.

THE DAMN ORIGINAL KILLER THOUGH?! Holy shit. If I re read it again I bet it would be much more obvious. Now I think about it the dvds were all too convenient in his house. I thought it was strange how Evans was so easily pinned for the murder. Something always felt off. I loved the writing of that final chapter when we find out who it is and how the author doesn’t mention his name for a number of pages, I’d already worked it out but it was written very well and suspenseful like a great scene from tv.

I related to Lana far more than I like to admit. Her morbid sense of humour was what I bonded with and I felt like I connected to her, this is down to the writing and character development. I felt maybe the ‘endgame could have been much better but it’s such a small part I can overlook it.

A great book to mess with your mind and makes you wonder which side you would be on….

So this was different.

There are no female wolves born, they are all turned. When a male wolf picks a human female he ‘hunts’ her and eventually bites her and she either lives or dies. He stays in wolf form until he bites her then she turns and then she ‘chases’ him to see if he is worthy or not.

This is a very different style of wolf shifter book and a bit weird, they can’t communicate with their wolves or have any influence etc and they are only the size of a wolf dog.

The smut wasn’t great, all the guys are virgins (where there isn’t any problem with that) but it wasn’t as smutty as I was made to believe.

I may read the next book but I’m in no hurry.

Wow…. I am speechless

So this was a strange one for me, I wasn’t sure what was going on for the first 40/50% of this book. I couldn’t work out if everyone was a shifter or if it was one side or what but damn this is crazy.

I’ve never read a Kelly St. Clare book but this was great, world building was fantastic and her characters were compelling. I really liked Andie, although she is very stubborn and really should accept help.

The whole Hatfield’s & McCoy vibes were interesting. The whole ‘war’ with the grids was a strange twist but I was really liking it. I was expecting both sides to be werewolves but to have it as humans vs wolves is interesting.

I did not see that huge twist at the end, although I had a feeling Andie’s mom wasn’t her actual mom for a long time and she took Andie to protect her. I’m wondering if Hercs wife was ‘mated’ to a wolf after they fell in love and he is bitter? I don’t know I’ve a few thoughts about it but I’m eager to read the next book!
