reflective fast-paced

i had hoped for something about the intricacies of memories formation and abnormalities, but instead this text only touches on the basics of memory before turning into being about alzheimer’s with copious anecdotes mixed in. i’m sure someone will enjoy it but i didn’t very much.

especially not fond of the author conflating aphasia (which she did not even bother name) fully with alzheimer’s, when it occurs with multiple conditions. in fact a good chunk of the latter portion of the book felt like it vacillated between scaremongering and the stereotypical ‘preventatives’ health advice. as though anyone with a body has not heard “try yoga/more sleep/[random diet]/etc” ad nauseam already.

i appreciate that the audio described the diagrams but still feels like i would have understood better seeing them. don’t think i could have slogged through the rest of the book in print tho. was quite interesting, but painfully dense.
