The ending just came out of nowhere. I had kinda of prepared myself for Kate's death, but Anna? I was not ready for that, and it was so sudden.
This was a compelling read and thoughtfully handled. The one thing I didn't like was the structure for some of the chapters - i have a pet peeve about repeating dialogue/action when you change perspective. Anna's chapters were sometimes confusing because of the way they jumped back but might have been clearer in print than audio book.

A quick and easy read. I almost felt like it was over too soon. This was exactly the book I needed after my previous read (Lily and the Octopus) - just something light and fluffy with a happy ending.

I see a lot of comparisons between this book and Huxley, which annoys me because A Brave New World is a badly written book with a good first chapter. This Perfect Day, by comparison, is a good book with many good chapters, which is compelling from start to finish.I found the ending really satisfying, especially compared to the likes of 1984.
Levin us a master in world building, and sets up a really intriguing dystopia that seems pretty plausible with the current hype of putting wifi in everything.

I wanted to give the book 5-stars, but I feel bad for even giving it 4. This Perfect Day is an enjoyable book, aside from that one scene that is so unimportant to the story that it is not at all mentioned. I get that this is a product of its time - some creepy toxic masculinity trope - but it kinda ruins a perfectly good book..

Favourite shopaholic so far. This was very easy to get into and didn't drag things out the way that 'Ties the Knot' did. It's also good to see Becky held accountable for her actions, at least for a little while.
Hope Jess shows up again in future books.

I think that Kinsella approached the topic of anxiety and bullying quite well and somewhat convincingly. There are moments of real insight into depression and she really tries not to give us a 'having a boyfriend cures depression' story.
That said, it wasn't exactly a riveting story and I fell asleep several times listening to the audio book. The decision not to reveal the events leading to Audrey's anxiety and exactly why she was in hospital (it feels like Annie Edison style breakdown to me) leaves you without closure on a lot of questions.
