This is so, so good. The JKR shade is top quality but there’s super subtle references to HP. There’s two different magic systems in play in this book and I love them both, and they’re both so much better and more interesting than HP wands and shit (though there’s some of that too).
This is also a top notch romance novel parody, but at the same time, it’s got a solid plot line with important things to say. Some cheesy and some just... unexpected but accurate all the same. I really just love this.

The ending didn’t sit well with me. It was too much like a solution to all their problems just drops suddenly in their laps, and I wanted them to work together for a solution that works for both of them. And other characters are kind of jerks to one of the main characters, even though one side character does own up to their own jerkiness in the end and apologize for it. But that’s just me and YMMV. It was a fun ride, all the aforementioned stuff aside.

This was great. Wonderful story, fantastic heroine, and it all is told really well. I only regret that it didn’t end how I wanted it to but I do appreciate how it did end. Now I’m interested to see how Mexican Gothic is.
