I had to read this for school, and this is probably the best book I've ever had to read for school. None of the characters were likable and were honestly kinda insane. However, the story was really good, as was the writing. The ending was a bit unsettling relating to Heathcliff but it added to the story. This book made me want to read more classics. Like for being written so long ago, there were some pretty funny lines.

I have no idea what to even say. This book unfortunately suffered from me being in a reading slump so it took me forever to finish. But I still loved it. The characters. Ugh. The pain

I've been in the worst reading slump for over 6 months now. This might have actually gotten me out. It took me almost 2 months to actually finish it but it's the first book in a while that I felt something about. This book got me so obsessed with chess too which I appreciate. The writing isn't revolutionary or anything but there were definitely some really good lines.

I've been in a reading slump, so it took a while to read this, but even still I loved it. I probably would've loved it a little more if I'd read it quicker. I really loved Max's character. His relationship with Anna was sweet. I loved the setting and magic of this book so much. One of the best settings of a book I've ever read. I will be craving more books like this. I liked the ending too. I feel like everything was wrapped up pretty well.

the writing was also beautiful
very good quotes
"Anna." The word falls like a feather, soft and delicate.

He smiles at Anna, and she is quite certain he smiles more than anyone she knows, and that he has a thousand smiles, one for every possible situation.

She wants to be with Max, wants him to keep looking at her like she's the rainbow he's been searching for all his life.

And because he's Max and not trained to act like something big is nothing, like it's uncool to feel things, he squeezes her hand and beams at her.

honestly have no idea how to rate this and it's already been a week since I finished it
I've been in a huge reading slump for months so it took me a long time to read this.
I don't know, it's not a bad book, it just wasn't my favorite. I think there was just too much petty drama for my taste. I didn't fully guess the plot twist, but it also wasn't surprising at all. Just a mediocre book

I'm not entirely sure I'll stick with this rating but for now I don't think it's a 4 star. I honestly just didn't feel very connected to the characters. In the Inheritance Games trilogy I was very quickly connected to the characters, but I didn't really connect with any of these characters. That's not to say I didn't like them though. I like Dean the most #teamdean. Michael is alright just depends on the scene. Lia is a bit annoying sometimes. And Sloane just really wasn't focused on that much. As for Cassie she was just kinda distant which is weird considering it's in her pov. This definitely was an interesting story and although I wasn't super connected to it, I still got excited to read it again. I'll definitely continue the series and hopefully it gets better.
never once expected it to be Locke but also it made so much sense after we got her motives. Even before we got her motives everything else added up.
