The mini-series has spoiled my memory of it, somewhat.

Why so low a rating compare to the other books in the Dark Tower series?
Well because I was bitterly disappointed by the last 2 chapters. It did not go in the direction I had hoped.
And after devoting so many years to following Roland, my grief at the pointless demise of his companions could not forgive how it all ended.

I read this the way he intended it to be read in installements.
Well before the filming of the movie.
I can say I enjoyed it at the time but am unlikely to read it again.

1996 - The Regulators by Richard Bachman
1996 - Desperation by Stephen King

These 2 were meant to be companion books by King using as they did the same character names, in a similar sort of peril from the same monster. A lot of reviewers said it was lazy writing at the time but I personally loved it. It added rather to my enjoyment of both rather than detracting.

Good Times.

I know I liked it, but truthfully I do not remember the plot.
