I bought this book while on vacation in Santorini. It has been translated into at least 7 other languages. My curiosity was engaged when the shop owner told me the story had been based around research. The prose isn't exactly unique or flowing, and the storyline is stilted; yet I still enjoyed this book because it was written locally.

I resisted reading this book because it seemed like a cliche story. However, my book club picked it out, so I was doomed to read it. I listened to the audiobook version and was drawn in by the language. The outcome was predictable for me, yet I'm still glad I finally read this.
