This was a breath of fresh air after a month long slump. I never heard of the Goose Girl fairytale until I looked up this book. I had to go on YouTube to get a little summary šŸ˜‚ But I enjoyed this a lot, however I did find myself getting a little bored because I felt like the mystery was being dragged out. As soon as I complained about it though, my answers were provided in the next chapter šŸ˜‚

Not sure if this is going to be addressed in the rest of the series but I need her brother and her mama to get dealt with!

Also, this book is trying to teach me a lesson about mercy and justice, let me just say that Iā€™m not here for it at this moment in my life šŸ„“šŸ˜‚. Valka got what was coming to her.

And I loved The Lady as a villain. Idk what is but when the villain is a woman whoā€™s out for revenge against men *chefs kiss*. I will always devour that content ā¤ļø

I love all the action in this series! I think theyā€™re well written. And I love all of the paranormal beings in existence and the history of them all.  I wish we could get more of it, they are my favorite parts of the story. Especially learning about the goddesses and the curses.

I found myself getting tired of everything that was going on and it was nonstop. I took a lot of breaks reading this book because it became too much sometimes. I also found myself getting real tired of Grace. For a book thatā€™s so long (which I enjoy), I think it would be better if we got different POVs. I love a lot of the characters and I want to hear their thoughts. I wouldnā€™t mind Graceā€™s, Hudsonā€™s, Cyrus (just so we can see whatā€™s happening on his side of things), Jacksonā€™s or Flintā€™s. Or getting a past and present type of thing so we can get our questions answered. All of those pages was just Graceā€¦going on and on and on and on. There were moments where she was incredibly self centered and if she wasnā€™t doing that she was yapping away about ā€œher mateā€ šŸ˜‚. Chile, that girl did not let us forget that was her paranormal soulmate šŸ˜‚

A part of me feels like Graceā€™s parents are alive somewhere. Idk if I missed something but I still donā€™t understand how/why they died.

And there was so much shit going on, I got questions! Are the humans just oblivious to all this going on? I know people live in Alaska! šŸ˜‚ So nobody see these big ass dragons in the sky? These earthquakes? All these wolves howling all over the place? No one peeped that this big ass school is a pile of dust now?! And we just gon speed pass Heather finding all this shit out?

Iā€™m looking forward to reading the rest of the series though.

Thank you to Chelsea Abdullah, Orbit and Hachette audio for providing me with the opportunity to listen to this wonderful book! I really donā€™t have anything bad to say. The pacing was great for me, I was never bored, and just when I thought nothing else would happenā€¦something else happen. It eas so easy to get lost in this world. I loved the character development, especially with Mazen (my favorite šŸ˜). I loved the magic and the history/mythological stories.

The only thing is I really wish we could get some Omar POV chapters. I wouldā€™ve loved to see his inner thoughts.

Iā€™ve been challenging myself to read the books I enjoyed when I was in high school and šŸ„“šŸ˜‚

I used to be so in love with this story when I was younger. Now that Iā€™m older Iā€™m like ā€œEhā€¦ā€. I enjoyed the drama and the pacing but it didnā€™t give me butterflies like it did the first time.

Sleeping with Strangers by Eric Jerome Dickey

Iā€™ve been challenging myself to read some of the urban fiction that I loved so much as teenager/younger adult. And EJD is one of my favorite characters. Surprisingly (not really) Iā€™m really happy that I still think this is a 5 star.

I may be bias because EJD is one of my favorite authors lol.

RIP šŸ•Š
