This book has great bones and was a helpful read, but I found the overall tone distracting. However, despite that, I really appreciated the varied advice throughout this book and do feel it is helpful in cultivating a better relationship with the self. Juliet Diaz’s advice helps bring intention to self care and self nurturance, while also placing proper respect on our place in community. This book’s emphasis on care without toxic individualism makes it a valuable read for those looking to heal their relationships with themselves and/or up their self care practices. I appreciate the author wanting a friendly approach, but could have done without the unnecessary hashtags and besties/BFFs. I also noticed the use of feminine pronouns when referencing the divine self, which I feel is limiting considering the information of this book is useful to all genders.

I am completely new to this subject so very much coming from a “don’t know what I don’t know” approach. I think this book’s best feature is its compendium of plants, and it serves as a good beginner’s guide on working with plants. I wish there had been more information on the mechanics of using these plants (like how to harvest, dry, etc.), and more pictures of the plants. However, this feels like a good resource to use in conjunction with others.
