Another one in this series that has fallen flat. The writing felt really choppy and leaned way more into telling than showing.

I absolutely could not stand Jay's character. I felt both characters were quite one dimensional and I was getting whiplash from the way they interacted.

The most jarring scene for me is when they have their first 'fight'. Jay's reaction felt very over the top. And why did they have to meet at a lake, on campus, in the middle of the night? It just felt a little too ridiculous.

The resolution for this book was wrapped up so neatly and quickly that it was not realistic.

Hoping the rest of the series will recapture me.

The most annoying part about this was the author missing a huge chance for Shawn to build Rush a secret nook in the new house! Especially after Rush made Shawn his own beer

Like, why include that scene where they talk about the nook, if Shawn wasn't going to sneak it in and surprise Rush?
