ARC review. 4.5 stars.

This relationship looks a little different from most. You have a mail order spouse, both characters fall within the ace spectrum and there is no intercourse between the two characters. It's a different insight into folks on the ace spectrum, while still telling a wonderful, intimate story.

Obviously, this one won't be for everyone, heck I am normally one to scoff at closed door romance (gimme the dirty deets please). If you like your pages to include the down and dirty, you're not going to see that in the traditional sense here. These two boys are full of smooches and snuggles, but neither wants their intimacy to extend past this.

You have one ace character who has little to no desire at all, and an ace character who prefers toys/their own touch to anyone else. They do share moments where one watches the other (and this is described) , and so it's technically an open door, just with no shared touch.

The comfort they find in each other is so touching and you could also feel the relief for these two boys who wanted special someone's, without being pressured to step outside of their comfort zone.

The miscommunication trope in this one was a little frustrating, purely because it was like having a mirror held up to me (me, avoiding conflict with people I care about? Never!) But you can also understand why someone in Arush's situation may not want to say anything. I was also annoyed at Julian's obliviousness to labels. Someone please help them talk to each other better!!

Either way, this is a perfect read to bring in Pride Month this year. Ace/aro folks are often forgotten/erased in the rainbow community and this book shines a light on how important romance is, regardless of what you define as intimacy.
