Honestly, the dialogue and writing in this book wasn't great. I really dislike reading dialogue that sounds too formal, and doesn't fit into a natural conversational style.

The second half of the book was a lot, and felt like too many things to happen to wrap up neatly. It was like the author tried to find as many traumatic things as possible and shove them into the 100 or so pages left.

I got to 50% and almost DNF'd. The writing of the third person POV really irritated me, and so once I hit my wall, I skimmed the remainder of the story. Purely because DNF isn't something I can do.

The spice was very fade to black, and again frustrated me.

Let's hope the visual adaptation does a better job at telling this story.
