I am providing my honest review after reading an ARC.
The concept behind this story was lovely, but it felt a little disjointed at times. There were a couple of little perspective issues I picked up (talking about both characters in the third person in the same scene) and I felt the religious fundamentalism impacts could have been a little heavier; that guilt and fear element dissipated really quickly for Ken.
This book is also heavily based on the miscommunication trope, which is one of my least favourite tropes. The last 40% of the book could have been solved by a conversation or two.
I did like that this book was set in Australia; it's not something you see very often, but it made it easy for me to picture the scenery and climate.

This book was a beautiful exploration of mental health and learning to love yourself. I get the feeling there will be more books in this universe, and I am interested to see the other themes explored.
There were a number of spelling and grammatical errors, which I hope are picked up and rectified in future versions of the book.
A great first book from this author, can't wait to see what is next!
