This book popped up as a recommendation from another person on here. This is NOT a dark romance. This is an erotic horror. There is no happily ever after.
You are going to question everything that happens in this book. You are going to feel like you are losing your mind. You are going to be shocked. But holy fuck is it worth it.
If you don't like dark books (think along the lines of Audrey Rush books, or Dead Inside by Chandler Morrison) then I would definitely not recommend, but if you're looking for something violent, gory and confusing, this might be right up your alley.
I am adding Harleigh's other books to my TBR because if they're as good as this, I'm going to be hooked.

This book was certainly high on the spice factor, but the story itself wasn't so great. I kept picking up and putting down this one; the characters were annoying and so much of the tension came from miscommunication (my second most hated trope).
I also found the characters were really wishy washy in a number of scenes and it felt like my head was spinning as they flipped and flopped with their moods and feelings about whatever was happening in the book.
Also, some of the hockey-related scenes would not have happened in a real game, which is also frustrating. Anyway, 2.5 stars (rounded up)

Oh this book was fun. It was a combination of big tropes, age-gap, fake dating (though this wasn't a plot point for majority of the book) and friends to lovers, but I did like the combo together.
As soon as Nina came onto the scene, I loved her. Her snarky, sarcastic comments had me chuckling and I felt a lot of myself reflected in her. Her anxiety felt real and she definitely was a strong FMC.
Rhode is the cross-stitching, dirty-mouthed cat daddy of your dreams. Gentleman on the streets, freak in the sheets. His aversion to the age gap was good too, I always struggle with age gap books because the older person can come across as a little creepy. His journey towards accepting that life after hockey can be exciting was lovely to watch.
The spice in this book was good. The dirty talk was great. Their first time together (in the office, because the kitchen doesn't count) was absolute fire!
I also really enjoyed the sister dynamic in this book. As someone who has a sister, the narrative towards the end where Nina and Grace have it out rang very true for me.
Couple of issues:
-Micah really ruffled my feathers at first. His crass, demeaning language towards women wasn't funny and left a bad taste in my mouth. Once we learn more about him, I warmed towards him, but I didn't enjoy that first impression
-I would have liked to see more of Rhode repairing his relationship with his father
-The book doesn't come with an epilogue, and I love seeing couples in the future
-Some of the hockey stuff felt exaggerated. Rhode and Micah fighting on the ice, while a game was happening around them? Yeah, I don't think that would actually happen. Or if it did, the two of them would have been benched/fined by the coach for a number of games.
-A lot of things that happened in this book get glossed over/wrapped up quickly/mentioned once then forgotten, which makes it hard to get engaged on a deeper level
