I wanted to like this book so badly but truly cannot get over how much fatphobia permeated Moshfegh’s writing. Almost every story described fat characters as being disgusting, stupid, constantly eating, etc. When every character expresses the same viewpoint about fat people, you really have to wonder if that’s how Moshfegh really feels herself.
