gonna miss these characters!

i really enjoyed this conclusion! Things just wrapped up a little too easily for my liking - I'm glad things weren't dragged out but i would've liked to have seen them more fleshed out, but still very enjoyable nonetheless.

I hope Lexi Ryan ventures into more adult romantasy!

also really good narration (I listened via Audible).

um???? (in a good way)

this was super chilling and atmospheric and I didn't see the ending coming either. It wasn't necessarily jaw-dropping but it did leave me like "umm wtf??"!

A spooky summer, campfire read! (or for another optimal experience read under a blanket with a flashlight...if you dare!)

i didn’t enjoy this.

Plain & simple. I’m not sure if I just wasn’t the right audience for it but I found the characters extremely unrelatable and hard to connect with. They weren’t necessarily (completely) unlikeable but they weren’t enjoyable either nor did they seem to possess any growth.

The plot itself was strange (hence the title?) and boring and the writing felt clinical. This wasn’t for me, unfortunately.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“maybe that’s what best friends are - soul mates in disguise”

honestly love that quote so much bc I think it also applies to platonic friendships 🥹💜

this was good! I found it too drawn out - esp the third act break up - but I’m glad Hunter got the closure he needed so he could fully commit himself to the relationship he wanted although I wasn’t too crazy on him needing to label his sexuality (or rather Drake kind of wanting him to label it - I think you can own same sex attraction without having to place a label on it esp when it’s a new attraction).

I loved the dynamic between Hunter and Drake but Isabel felt irrelevant to me - I didn’t buy the connection between her and either of the men; it felt forced in comparison to the connection (& incredible angst) between Drake and Hunter. I loved them together!

Overall, if this had been a bit shorter and drawn out I would’ve liked it more but it was good and hotttt 🔥🔥🔥

I think I would’ve given it 4 if it weren’t for the length and that trope in the epilogue which I immediately stopped reading after I saw where it was headed.

too long

so this started out pretty good but the length took away from the overall enjoyment - it didn't need to be this long and drawn out. i kept wondering when it was going to be over.

this also wasn't what i expected - i was hoping for more darkness (and even creepiness? the cover vibes weren't cosigning the actual plot) but it was just a lot of college bitchiness. i did appreciate the overall growth that came from all three MCs, though! but Ivy wasn't giving enough main character vibes to be the title character.

the way the epilogue ruined this for me tho lmao. my rating doesn't include the epilogue but if it had, this would've gotten 2 stars - it was so cringe to me and i hate the trope it included.

fun!

This definitely wasn’t the best thing I’ve read - the dialogue was weird at times and some moments were a little cringe, the mystery wasn’t that great and it was a little too insta-lovey but I had fun with it!

Smutty, cozy-ish murder mysteries might be the new wave for me.
