This book will always be unbelievably special to me - it's the book that made me fall back in love with reading and writing as a teenager. It still holds that beauty to me - Baldwin's prose is as enthralling as ever. I don't know that I enjoyed the story itself as much this time, though I understand it a lot better now than I did then. Perhaps a little heavy handed at times. Either way, a beautiful novel that will never leave me.
Idk if I can give this a rating. I almost gave up on it, and then happened to pick it up again right as I was dealing with some of the stuff Connell was going through wrt loss and depression, and idk. I just sat and read the whole rest of it in one sitting. It's good to know things can become good again.
Endlessly funny, charming, and romantic, even on a third read. Listening to this audiobook version was especially enjoyable - it really emphasised Austen's skill at capturing the voices of her characters, which were brought to life so wonderfully by Kate Kellgren's narration.
Was lucky enough to see a recording of this play earlier this year, and it's been on my mind a lot lately so I decided to read it. Beautiful, thoughtful, devastating, hopeful. We remember you, Wa'el Zuaiter.
