An insight into the world of powerful rich men and how money can silence people and how women’s voices especially black women’s voices are not heard. Powerful and insightful. Heartbreaking for women not being heard.

I don’t like to rate a book so low but I was so disappointed with this one. It was far too wordy, towards the end I was just skipping chapters of unnecessary description to get to the point which in the end was disappointing in itself. If you like stories of wronged people having a fairytale unrealistic happy ending then you’ll like this. If you like books with a bit more substance then this is not the one, pretty sure it could have been wrapped up in 200 pages not the 420 it was!

I love this book so much! I can’t really put into words but having grown up with a sister and mother so very similar to these characters, I often felt like I was reading about myself. The way the book is written, with such a dry sense of humour is me to a T. Some parts made me laugh out loud, the ending brought a lump to my throat - and thanks to sertraline I don’t cry easily (if you know you know). This will be a book I recommend for a very long time, I didn’t want it to end.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 18%.

The writing gives me second hand embarrassment, nothing is happening apart from a lot of lip chewing 🫣 Don’t know what happens in this “amazing” book that everyone loves because I can’t bear to read anymore!
