This book reminded me of reading Redwall for the first time - an immersive environment, high stakes, and characters that had me fully on their side. This book is dark but also has its bright moments, just enough to keep you hopeful for a happy ending. Ellerie's voice felt real and she was a hero I rooted for fiercely. This honestly is a new classic.

I absolutely loved the book, and the writing, and the art - the writing especially stood out to me in its realism!

emotional reflective sad slow-paced

I didn't expect it to be so sad! But I should have paid more attention to the title. It's an unflinching look at how mental illness isolates.
reflective tense fast-paced

I think it's the author exploring her dreams. The book felt like diving into someone else's subconscious, where nothing makes sense and it's not supposed to, but you still have an emotional reaction. Can't say I'll read it again, but it was an interesting experience.

This book was wild. I could hardly put it down, and I'm happy I read it (even though it was so, so dark!)
informative relaxing medium-paced

Relaxing and lovely food illustrations. I learned a lot about all aspects of sushi, including how wasabi is harvested!
