The Awakening by Kate Chopin

At times too many descriptions, back-stories and adjectives, but overall an incredible book. Highly recommend to both men and women who want to break free from their restraints. It’s a beautiful story and very well written by Kate Chopin.

I read the first half then skimmed through the second. It was too dark for me, but I wanted to know what had occurred. This pretty much settles it for me that I’m not one for modern crime

I am a STRONG woman that finished this book after wanting to DNF it several times throughout.
Spoiler free but the basis of the entire story, not just the romantic storyline but the friends’ ones as well, is entirely rooted in miscommunication from the get go. Not a fan.
2 ⭐️ would be too low, 3 ⭐️ feels a bit much, but it’s where I ended up. One of my most anticipated reads of the year and I’m disappointed in the outcome.
UPDATE: I’ve changed it to two stars.
