Beginning of the book might be a bit weird, mostly because you get the feeling this isn't book 1 in this series with the flashback/previous murder case. After you get past page 50ish the story get's going and the flashback have a purpose for the rest of the book. 

All in all a dark gritty start to a serie I might explore more because Logan is interesting as a main character and the mystery/murder is "weird/freeky" enough to find out if book 2 has the same great story.
