Simply Abercrombie at his absolute best. I had small complaints about book one. Can't really think of any for book 2. Bravo.

It's fun, but gets quite cringe towards the end. I don't know, at some point the glass shattered for me and I found myself cringing more and more (though a part of me wants to say that is intentional for reasons I can't get into because of spoilers).

I loved this book. Abercrombie simply does not fail to deliver. My only nitpick is the pacing. It felt too slow at the beginning, and way too fast for the final 2/3s of the book. At the beginning it felt like we were spending too much time just being with the characters, but after that it felt like we spent too little. All the main sequences felt a tad rushed. I loved how at the end all the major characters hot to talk to each other.

This book promised a lot in the first several chapters but as I kept reading it was evident it just wasn't going to deliver. The whole time war thing is purely just a setting, when it could have been so much more. The plot does play around with time a little bit but it's nothing too special. Your basic time travel shenanigans, that the book tries to play off as mind bending. Just not really a book I enjoyed.

Holy crap this book is insane. But at the same time it isn't? Mieville somehow finds a way to make things as weird as possible while also making it make complete sense in his world.
