This was a solid novella with not much else to rave about. It’s hard to truly rate a book this short.

This was one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read. At first it was decent but then as the story progressed it felt like I was reading a Madea play. From the over emphasized use of “burnt and ultra dark” to the word “coo” it’s safe to say that I was over it by page 150. This is one of those books that did not need to be 310 pages. I found myself wanting to skip ahead just to be done with it. King’s obsession with finding Min was very cringe and the story of his parents felt so unnecessary. Why was he throwing folks in his trunk after other chapter? I’m glad to be done with this book. I feel like it was overly hyped.

This was a solid romance. The characters were someone predictable and typical.

I enjoyed this book overall. Kingfisher might be my new book boyfriend. Some parts were a bit predictable if you read a lot of fantasy but it was still really good.

This book was just okay. I liked his previous 2 books Project Hair Mary and The Martian much better. It was a solid 3 stars.

This was a solid and wholesome romance. I really enjoyed how the principles of Kwanzaa were integrated throughout. Both characters were mature and there was no unnecessary drama or plot twists.

Did I read the same book as everyone else? This was so boring.
