Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli

This duology is amazing and The Rebel Witch is a wonderful ending! The political unrest and action are so well done and kept me captivated the whole time. More than that, the mutual pining is perfection 🫠 I kept waiting for this to be a miscommunication trip and yet Rune and Gideon actually speak their feelings and work through their shiz, even when they can’t resolve it. It was so completely refreshing.
Honestly, I don’t know what else to say other than I cannot recommend this series enough ❤️🔥

This was a really interesting plot! I enjoyed following the twists and turns and I think the characters are really fun. The world building is very intricate as well. Dey and Orin had strong enemies to lovers tension and I think their relationship developed pretty well. I ADORE the members of the syndicate and Hollis is just the absolute best.
The only downside for me was that this book could have easily been much shorter and more captivating. There were points where it felt like it dragged, and almost like the author was trying to write a full series in one book since they’re standalone.
All in all, I think this was a really good story and I want to read the next book. It just felt really long.

Oh my GOD! This book was bonkers good! The angst and agony was insane and had me in a chokehold. Most of my reactions while I read were 😵 or expletives.
Let’s start with the plot. This picks up at a rather intense moment as you know if you read Spark. A lot of emotions going on for Diem. Then you get her in her new role and it’s just political scheming and two faced courtiers on all fronts. I LOVE the people she ends up befriend and I have a feeling they’ll become one of my favorite found families. As per usual I am all for the goofy/badass friend so I adore Taran.
Diem goes through a TON in this installment and my heart constantly ached for her, but she’s so tough and keeps pushing through. Of course I want to slap her a little at times but I also get what she’s thinking. Her relationship with Luther continues so sizzle and smolder and I am ALL FOR IT ❤️🔥
I’m super eager to learn more about the other realms and their rulers and of course I need to start Heat right away after that ending 😫

Okay I get what the hype is about and I loved it ! I’m not going to lie, I was a little worried it had been overhyped for a little while at the beginning. Don’t get me wrong, it was good and I enjoyed it. There was never a debate to DNF or anything. It was just a little slower than I had expected from everything I’d seen on social media. That said, around the time a bargain was made I was HOOKED. The tension, the action, the just day to day life…all of it had me unable to stop.
Saeris, is a younger protagonist but she was not immature. I liked her and her potty mouth a ton. Fisher is almost a typical brooding fae male except his affliction makes him very vulnerable and quirky (for lack of better word). Their antagonistic sexual tension was 🔥 and oh does the slow burn pay off.
If possible, I love their friends even more than them. I’m a bit obsessed with both Carrion and Ren. I really hope they both get a lot of spotlight in this series! And of course there is Onyx. I want one too please 🦊
I really like that this book ended without a super intense cliffhanger. A lot of the issues were resolved in some way at least, and yet I am still eager for more. I think it was really well done.

This was SO good. I was hooked from the start. Mortal enemies to lovers, fake dating, spying…Heartless Hunter checks all the boxes for my favorite tropes. The intrigue is fantastic and the romantic tension was on point. There’s even that little bit of a love triangle too. I’m super proud of myself for guessing the biggest twist but that ended GUTTED me. I cannot wait to start Rebel Witch!

This was a really good start to what I think will be a good series. It wasn’t as fast paced or high action as I was expecting based on the hype, but I think it laid a solid foundation with which to continue. I don’t think any of the reveals were too surprising, but I liked them nonetheless. Diem is a fun character. I love her interactions with her brother, as well as her sassy banter she uses to deflect with everyone. Luther is also going to be fun to follow because I think I know what he will do but I’m not at all positive.
I’m very curious to see where this goes in the next book, based on how Spark ended, and I want more answers on Aurelia.
If we’re being super picky I would give this a 3.75⭐️

I originally hesitated reading this because I knew it had a modern day setting, and that tends to be a little hit or miss for me….I was an IDIOT. This story was fantastic. I was hooked from the very first chapter and honestly, if book two were available I’d have gone straight into it. I also don’t know why I thought this was YA. It’s not, and I am NOT sad about that. It was an extra bonus! This definitely reminded me of an adult version of Percy Jackson. The trials were exciting and surprisingly high stakes. The slow burn tension was ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 The found family was super sweet and heartwarming, and the tough parts made me want to cry and scream. I absolutely loved the ending and I cannot wait for The Things Gods Break to release!!
A Fate Inked In Blood by Danielle L. Jensen

I’m obsessed! I should have known I would be because I absolutely love everything Danielle write. This story had me intrigued from the very start. I loved the initial scene because it was silly and sweet and immediately gave you a good idea of Freya’s character. From there you just get action and intrigue, and I seriously didn’t want to stop until I finished. I resented needing to sleep. The tension between Freya and Bjorn is absolutely delicious and I loved the slow burn and banter. The way all the characters interacted with and around each other was exciting and -in retrospect- very intentional. The ending has me tied up in knots and I cannot wait to see where this goes in A Curse Carved in Bone!

A superb ending to a superb series! I’ve been in a chokehold since Trial of the Sun Queen and couldn’t stop until I’d read it all. This final installment is a CHONKY book and oh boy does a little happen. At points it almost felt like we were starting new plot lines (in book 4! 😵💫) but it all tied back together in the end. TotHQ also brought ALL the spice! I kind of love that we ended the whole series on a bang 🤭 I did feel for Gabriel though because the poor guy could not catch a break!
Basically I loved everything. I loved how we resolved the major conflict as well as the side ones. I loved how each character’s story tied up in the end with a nice little bow of positivity, and left their futures open. In short, I recommend this book and thus series to everyone 🥰

I was very excited for this book based on the overview. Pirates, rivals to lovers, political intrigue, and the potential for a revolution? Sign me up! Unfortunately, it did not quite live up to my expectations. It definitely had the exciting adventure and the political intrigue I had hoped for. It wasn’t groundbreaking in the plot, but I really did enjoy it. I like the idea of a pirate rebellion and am definitely interested in seeing how that takes off in the second book.
Where I felt underwhelmed was in Ximena herself. Ximena’s growth as a character/person is flat, and she continually flip flops back to her blind faith in the Law. Then suddenly at 90% it was like a switch was flipped out of nowhere. I do understand the idea that she’s been groomed from a young age, and that can account for it to some extent, but mostly she just continued making terrible choices for the sake of burying her head in the sand.
Similarly, the romantic tension was almost non-existent for a book marketed as a romantasy. Ximena and Dante had no chemistry, and it never seemed to develop. It felt like it came out of left field when Dante made it obvious he liked her early on, given he was rather awful to her most of the time. And while his actions more or less showed his intentions from that point on, Ximena never really reciprocated. I’m not saying a book needs romance to be good, but if you’re going to include it, at least make sure you do it with the proper buildup.
Overall, this story had great potential and I think the concept is interesting; the execution just fell a little short. That said, I will be finishing the duology when book 2 is released.
