This book had me on the edge of my seat as I read it.  I went in thinking I was reading a thriller, which it was, but it also had such a creepy vibe going I was constantly looking over my shoulder.  The graphic and gory details in the descriptions of the scenes that the author depicted where so horrific.  I don't think I will look at Buck the same way again.

This book has a strong sexual context so if that offends you I would stay away from Jessa Kane.  For her books I would say I really enjoyed the theme of this story line.  An empath who worked with a group of women and their husbands in making there relationships stronger.

This story takes place in the world of Buffy the Vampire slayer and I really enjoyed it.  I know there have been people that were disappointed and didn't feel it was what they thought it would be, but I think it portrayed a world after Buffy and the Kiersten White did a great job of making it connect with that world.  Nina and Artemis twins that were always looking out for each other and willing to sacrifice everything for each other, even if at times they weren't sure they should.  And then there was Leo the boy who captured Nina's heart at the age of 12 and still had it at 16.  I think if you watched Buffy that you would enjoy as long as you aren't looking to see Buffy and her gang in this book. Read with an open mind and enjoy.

I really enjoyed this book.  It has been awhile since I have read a historical fiction novel.  The characters in this story were both loving at times but also tough on themselves as well as on each other. I don't think I really hated any one character, but I definitely wasn't a fan of a couple of them.  The characters Charlie and Henry were the sweetest and loving men.   Then you had some very strong women characters.  I wasn't sure what I thought about the ending.  I will have to think that one over.
