I really loved this book! Refreshing premise, fast paced, great writing which was a mixture of plot vs character.

I just didn’t get this book. I think it was supposed to be a coming of age style book but that was inaccurately depicted.
I saw the author at a book event so I bought his book as he was a great speaker but this fell very flat.
There was poor character development, I wasn’t a fan of the writing style or the main character and I think the themes of being on-white in the UK and the pressures that come with that weren’t explored fully.
It was a fast paced easy read with big font but I definitely expected more.

Enjoyable, fast paced read. Easy page turner but not the most memorable read. It’s a coming of age story with an engaging writing style but in all honesty, it was very predictable and to be expected.

This book had a lot of potential but I did not enjoy the writing style. I felt it was too descriptive about things that were not relevant i.e. food descriptions, yet several poignant themes were not adequately explored and fell flat. The characters largely unlikable and I did not see the development in them.
