Wow. What a powerful read.

You can't really say 'i enjoyed it' about a book like this. It feels so wrong. This book is bleak and upsetting. But it is necessary.

Set out as a series of letters, each one never reaching its intended recipient, this book tells the stories of the displaced people in an unnamed war torn country. Their tales are shocking and desperately sad.

I found myself having to take regular breaks whilst reading this book. Breaks to digest the letter I'd just read - or sometimes just a portion of the letter. The letters come from people who have experienced all kinds of traumatic events and they just want to get their truths off their chests.

This isn't a book for the faint of heart. Its powerful and moving and beautiful in its own way, but it is the very opposite of a light-hearted read. It brings to the forefront the awful things humanity is capable of. It's uncomfortable. But I'm so glad I've read it.
